The Bhargavaeswarar temple is found in the Thumbavanam street. Sage Bhaargava and Brihu have worshipped this Linga. This temple is situated south of the Vegavathy River. Adhitheeswarar is a linga which was found nearby but now placed inside this temple. There were 4 Lingas in Thumbavanam Street in early days. But now the places where the Lingas were situated have been transformed to houses and buildings. No one is aware of the existence of those Lingas. Some old people believe that they must have been removed due to various reasons and placed in temples near by. This Linga must have been one among those. The 4 Lingas which were lost were Narasimhaeswarar (worshipped by Singa Perumal near by), Sarabeswaraeswarar, Ashtabujangaeswarar - a vaipusthalam worshipped by Ashtabyja Perumal near by and Jayageesheaswarar.
