RAAMAESWARAR, LAKSHMANAESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

This temple is situated in the Kottrampaalayam street. This temple is found near the Sundhara Vinayaka temple amidst houses. Linga which Raama worshipped is called Raamaeswarar. The linga which Lakshmana worshipped is called Lashmanaeswarar. RAAMAESWARAR LAKHMANAESWARAR

BHAARGAVAESWARAR, ADHITHEESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

The Bhargavaeswarar temple is found in the Thumbavanam street. Sage Bhaargava and Brihu have worshipped this Linga. This temple is situated south of the Vegavathy River. Adhitheeswarar is a linga which was found nearby but now placed inside this temple. There were 4 Lingas in Thumbavanam Street in early days. But now the places where the Lingas were situated have been transformed to houses and buildings. No one is aware of the existence of those Lingas. Some old people believe that they must have been removed due to various reasons and placed in temples near by. This Linga must have been one among those. The 4 Lingas which were lost were Narasimhaeswarar (worshipped by Singa Perumal near by), Sarabeswaraeswarar, Ashtabujangaeswarar - a vaipusthalam worshipped by Ashtabyja Perumal near by and Jayageesheaswarar.

MEYKKANDEESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

This temple is found in Thondai Mandala Aadheenam. Meykkanda Naayanaar has worshipped this Shivaa.

CHANDRASEKARAESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

This linga is near the Vellaikkulam area. The Shivaa is also known as Chandhramauleeswarar. This Shivaa is kept in Sandhaveli Amman temple. The Sandhaveli amman was earlier known as Chanraveli Amman. Chandran has worshipped this Shivaa and the Amman thereby this is a Chandra Prihaara Sthalam. The Vellai Kulam was called as Chandra Theertham in early days. The Linga is a Suyambhu Linga. In ancient days this was a separate temple but after destruction the Linga was brought inside the Amman temple. 

NAVAGRAHA STHALAMS OF KANCHIPURAM

1. PARIDHEESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM The paridheeswarar temple is located in the area called Paruthikkulam in Kanchipuram. This temple was worshipped by Sooryan , the Sun god. This temple is considered as Soorya Graha Parihaara Sthalam. 2. CHANDHIRAESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM 3. SEVANDHEESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM The Sevandheeswarar temple is located in Paruthikkulam in Kanchipuram. This temple was worshipped by Mars. This is considered as Sevvai Graha Parihaara Sthalam. This temple was also worshipped by Vaayu with Sevandhi flowers. The theertham is called Soola Theertham. 4.  SATHYANAADHAESWARAR - THIRUKKALIMEDU The place where the Sathyanaadhaeswarar temple is located is called Thirukkaalimaedu. This place was earlier known as Indhiraalaya and Kachchinerikaaraikkaadu. The Theertham is Indhira Theertham. In the ancient days this place was full of kaarai plants. SARVA THEERTHAM - KANCHIPURAM

Sarva Theertha Kulam is a holy tank whose greatness has been explained in the Kanchi Puranam. The Sarva Theertha Pond is the Sangaamam of All Sacred Rivers. The Sacred rivers established Lingas and worshipped the Lord. We find some of these Lingas around the SarvaTheertha Kulam. It is believed that people who bathed in this pond can wash away their sins. The rituals to their ancestors are performed in the banks of this pond. 1. GANGAADHEESWARAR           This temple is found in the eastern banks of Sarva Theertha Kulam. The Shiva linga faces west. Gangaadheeswarar was worshipped by Ganga Devi and Varuna (God of Rain). By worshipping this Shivaa he the obtained the leadership of all forms of water and the water inhabitants. The Shiva linga was also called Varunaeswarar. The Linga has a square Aavudaiyar. Shiva faces west. This temple is a brick temple.  2. KAALAHASTHEESWARAR (VISHKANDEESWARAR) – KAANCHIPURAM

The Vishakandeeswarar temple (kaalahastheeswarar) is found inside the panamaneeswarar temple. The poison released from the snake vaasuki during the churn of the Paarkadal wasa consumed by lord shivaa. When the poisn reached the throat of shivaa Paarvathi got hold of his neck tightly so that the poison could not spread into his body. This made shivaa giddy. This shivaa linga denotes this story. This linga is know known as Kaalahastheeswarar.     

INDHRAESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

The Indhraeswarar temple is found ner the Kailaasanaadhar temple. This temple is also called Nithyavanidheaswarar. When    Indhra and his son Jayanthan came to Kaancheepuram they worshipped a shivaa linga each. The linga worshipped by Jayanthan is just 2 streets away from Indhraeswarar. The Linga has a round Aavudaiyar. 

KANGANAESWARAR – KAANCHEEPURAM

The Kanganaeswarar temple is located in the Kammaala Theru. He is also known as Padhaleeswarar. The Kangana (which is an ornament worn in the hand) of Parvati is said to have worshipped this Linga when the mother Uma was in Thava. Shiva has a round Aavudaiyar. This temple is a stone temple. Since this temple was found below the ground level Shiva was also known as Padhalaeswarar. 

KANIKANDAESWARAR - KANCHIPURAM

The Kanikandaeswarar temple is found in pillayarpaalayam in Kancheepuram. This temple was built by Pallavas.  All the Koshta deities are found in this temple. This temple was worshipped by Parasurama along with his mother Renuka. There is a Padavettamman temple attached to this temple which assures this. Pattavettamman temple is Renuka Amman temple. The special feature of the Padavettamman temple is that there is a Parasurama Idol in front of Padavettamman which cannot be seen elsewhere. Normally Parasurama Sannidhi is not found commonly in temples. Worshipping this temple on Akshaya Trithiya which is the Birthday of Parasurama gives good health and wealth to the devotees.
