The Amaraeswarar temple is situated in Merku Raja Veedhi. This temple was worshipped by the devas. After receiving fame and pride the devas quarreled among themselves stating that each one was greater than the other. Lord shivaa brought unity among them and removed the pride from their hearts. After realizing their mistake the devas worshipped this linga. Indhran has also worshipped Amaraesawarar. This linga was also worshipped by Pallavas. Linga has a round Aavudaiyar. Built by the Pallavas. We can find Shiva and Amman sitting behind the Linga which is a special feature of Pallava temples.
