The Aramvalartheeswarar temple is located behind the Keerai mandapam. This place is said to be a place where justice(dharma) was born. The Linga is a big Linga with Round Aavudaiyar. This temple was a stone temple. There are no inscriptions in the temple. The Vinayaka is big with 2 Nagars beside him. In ancient days there were no Koshta deities in this temple.
After the Churning of the Milky sea Dharma (Aram) was destroyed. All the incidents which occurred after the release of poison during the Churn went wrong. The Asuras started harming the Devas and the Devas sought Shiva's help to save temple. Shiva brought back Dharma into existence so that everything would happen in the right way and the Devas were saved from the Asuras. Therefore Shiva is called as Aram Valartha Eswarar.
