The name Kaancheepuram has been obtained from this Shivaa. This deity is also known as Sownagaesarar. It is located in Okkappirandhan Kula Theru. Sage Sownaga established a linga and worshipped. Thereby the linga attained this name. The Linga has a round Aavudaiyar.
