The street opposite to Iravaththanaeswarar is called Apparao Street. This temple is located in this street. Brahma and Vishnu together have worshipped this Shivaa. The deity faces west and this temple is a Kedhu Parihara Sthalam. Vishnu and Brahma were of the opinion that one was more superior than the other and they had big quarrel among themselves. To solve the problem Lord Shiva appeared before them as a luminous light so powerful. Brahma and Vishnu were amazed as they could not bear the power of the Light. They realised their mistake and worshipped Lord Shiva and the Light transformed into a Linga. This linga is called Mahalingaeswarar. The Linga is big in size. The Linga has a round Aavudaiyar. A small temple has been built for the Linga.
