The Veeraraghavaeswarar temple was worshiped by Ragavan , the well known Rama. When Rama stayed in Kaancheepuram every morning he worshipped lingas. If he could not find any linga he made his own linga with mud , stone , clay or any other substance he could get. This is one of the lingas of Kancheepuram worshipped by Rama. According to Sage Agasthya's advice Rama established this linga along with Lakshmana. Lord Shiva appeared before Rama. Rama obtained the Pasupatha asthiram, Brahma asthiram and Narayana Asthiram by worshipping the Shiva here. Round Aavudaiyar.
